A Coffee Break

Matt had attended the first security briefing, and while important, he really only needed the highlights so skipped the next meetings of the morning.  I trust you are making headway, Leonard,” Matt said filling his own coffee cup, and raised the pot to pour for Leonard.

“We are.  I am about to hand off to Eric.  Someone needs to know all the details, but like you, I can’t get mired down in the minutiae or I will never get anything else done,” Leonard said gladly accepting the refill, and immensely pleased Matt ran to real cream and cubed sugar in his kitchen. He suspected that matt wasn’t the one who used either of them though by stygian darkness of his cup.

“Every good project manager comes to that realization eventually.  Do you want to brief me or just wait on Colonel Hand?” Matt asked, having decided he liked the methodical nature of the phlegmatic Swede who had somehow ended up an officer in the Amazon’s military division.

“We’ll wait on Eric,” Leonard said, knowing he heeded to say what came next but wasn’t going to be good at it. “Thanks for the time you spent with Kevin last night. He and I have never really had the sort of relationship that seems to come so naturally for you and teenagers.”

“It was a pleasure. He is a good kid. He and Mall are both good kids, and if that pair can stand up to the spotlight, then we have our press corps darlings.”

“That is coldly Machiavellian. The Prince would be proud of you.”

“I am more schooled in Puzo than The Prince.”

“Except when you do concerts?” Leonard chuckled

“Prince might have been the originator of the song, but Tom Jones did it better and I will die on that hill.”
