For those who saw last night’s community announcement as performative theater for the modern world, you are wrong. You have failed to look at three decades of community announcements from the Freeholder. This was his very first.

I am Matthew Johnathan Boone Marmaduke, fourth of my name, and the eleventh recognized Freeholder since the CCA Charter of 2123 was signed by another Matthew Johnathan Boone Marmaduke, the last person to carry our name before me. I should have made this announcement the day before yesterday, when I found my father dead, for he taught me continuity is what keeps us strong. I buried him this morning. I appreciate all those who have offered me support over the past 42 hours. I will strive to be worthy of your trust until I have earned the loyalty you gave my predecessors.
Eighteen predator bounties have been paid this week. Cold weather has brought tigers closer to our flocks and homes. Be vigilant and know where your families are. I know what it is to lose one of your own.
I will begin receiving new petitions on Monday.

Rain has been scarce since mid-February and non-existent since mid-March. The weather has been hot, and the fields are dry. Harvest needs to begin immediately lest we lose the crop. Work crews are being organized.
We are beginning to see horse herds as far east as the Missouri-Kansas border. These may become more dangerous than the predators we are beggining to see. They can also devastate an entire field covering hundreds of acres in as little as an hour. While capturing offers some long-term value, the threat of losing a crop cannot be overstated. I am placing a bounty on all wild horses brought down for your own food or reported to my office for immediate dispatch.
I sadly report that teams have recovered a body from the old brine wells that we believe to be that of Jessica Thompson, who slipped in three summers past.

2:26 PM — Marmaduke Media Office (Statement)
The Freehold confirms 25 baseline media access slots reserved for small news organizations without major budgets and for public broadcasting corporations. Additional access is tiered to manage security load, sanitation, and routing during the Thursday–Monday press window.
2:41 PM — V’ren on Earth Trust Inc (Founding Notice)
V’ren on Earth Trust Inc is established to govern and represent V’ren who reach planet Earth, and will be a paying participant in the Charter for Corporate Citizenship. Initial governance will be transitional and audit-anchored, with published bylaws and compliance obligations.
3:03 PM — SOL Defense Force (Announcement)
The SOL Defense Force (SDF) is established as a sponsored coalition framework co-sponsored by the Freehold, V’ren on Earth Trust Inc, the Columbia Collective, and partner states including Spain, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Pilot training will be conducted under SDF authority, with published intake standards and mixed human/V’ren cohorts.
3:18 PM — SDF Training Directorate (Addendum)
Following a request from a V’ren flight instructor to their superiors, the pilot program intake was expanded from a single apprenticeship lane into a full class. The first cohort will draw primarily from local candidates; the second cohort will include additional sources and will include an equal number of V’ren teens.
