Pittsburgh Reclamation Project

Oakmont–Verona–Plum Development Site, Pennsylvania

“So that is the site,” D’vann said, looking at the drone returns.  “It has a few more hills than I prefer to build on.”

“That is why you brought me,” S’rethi laughed, leaning back in her chair, and kicked off, rolling across the deck sole.  For all of her people’s engineering prowess, why had high-backed, overstuffed executive office chairs with wheels never been an invention?

“Are you two planning on creating my next sibling here, or are you planning to get some work done this afternoon?” R’alen asked, shaking his head at his parents, trying not to feel the worry of whether he would ever have the chance to become a father.

“So have you decided where we are all staying tonight while they pummel the new site into oblivion?” D’vann asked.

“The crew would prefer going back to Arrow Rock as there is no pizza in Pennsylvania.”

“Not yet my boy,” D’vann laughed.  “Not yet.”

“There is a meadow downstream from here on the site of the old Pittsburgh Airport.”

“That should keep us safe enough from ejecta,” S’rethi said, looking at the tablet.  “Go ahead and move everything there and I will order the first strike.”

“Time for pound town, as Jude called it,” T’vessa laughed.

M’ren and T’ira rolled their eyes, having heard quite a bit more about Jude than they wanted to know.

R’alen looked at her and wondered exactly how much she and Jude had been doing after dark and if that was why Jude was here.  He didn’t care so much about what his sister and a guy he generally liked were doing, as it brought back the knowledge he may never have kids of his own, with so few high-born women who could trigger his ability to mate.

“You are becoming entirely too human, Ves,” he laughed, shoving his sister and watched the chair roll down the deck.
